Storytelling

Marni Gillard and Ayah Osman welcome Tim Van Egmond, long time teller-musician to this year’s Storytelling Retreat. With prompts, guidance, and encouragement, we’ll honor life stories, folk tales, myths, historical moments and characters. If you are a newcomer to tale-telling, you’ll have FUN. If you’ve cherished retelling a tale you worked on for years, come with it! We do ask participants to come with one or more tales you want to practice and share. Bring an open heart as listeners as well as tellers. 

Friday we’ll gather to meet up at the Boathouse right after dinner. We may warm up with partners and practice in pairs, listening deeply and appreciating what we’ve noticed and liked as a listener. 

Saturday morning Marni, Ayah and Tim may offer prompts and other thoughts about the performing of tales, perhaps poems, and songs. We encourage you to come with one or more pieces you want to explore or practice. 

Saturday night we put on a show for each other and Pyramid visitors who have joined in the fun. 

Sunday morning we share what we’ve most enjoyed and remind ourselves what story-sharing has brought us and how we can share it with others.
